Finally, I’m done with my travel itinerary, as well as made a list of items to pack for my luggage. Now I’m feeling a whole lot more secure.
Although I had my hotels booked a few months ago, I realised that their locations were all crap once I started planning the itinerary. Out of 3 hotels I ended up changing 2. But since I’d only chosen hotels with free cancellation previously (in case I should change my mind), I was able to do so without incurring any penalty.
As a result I might have ended up paying slightly more for the hotels because it is now much nearer to my travel dates, which I could have prevented had I started planning for the itinerary earlier. So, there, a valuable lesson is learnt. Unless I’m really familiar with the place that I’m going to, I should start planning as soon as my flight tickets are confirmed.
I also realised that it would have been a lot better if the trip was 6 days instead of 5. There were some locations I had to forgo because of the lack of time, which was a pity since I’d already flown all the way there.
It’s okay though, now I’ll know better next time!
