At 2.55pm, I checked into my hotel, Green World Taipei Station, which was supposedly a 5min’s walk from Taipei Main Station. I would later learn that while this 5mins claim was true, it was also elusive.
I spoke Mandarin to the hotel receptionist, she replied me in English. Hmmm. I think she wanted to have a chance at practicing her English maybe.
Room was a decent size though dated and cleaning was fastidious. But hey, there were no toiletries! Not a big deal though, I was only missing on the shower gel. Made a mental note to self to buy a travel sized bottle on the way back.
My first Taipei itinerary was Huashan 1914 Creative Park. I reached here at about 4.05pm.
I will just let photos do most of the talking here…
This creative park was awesome. It was the kind of place I’d come to Taiwan to find. It was just really crowded though, being a Sunday. Some shops had long queues so I didn’t even bother.
I came here to find this one in particular –
Because I wanted to make my own musical box!
I picked out the base, the tune and the parts. Then I would have to make a payment first before I start assembling it with guidance from the staff. All the necessary tools were provided at the station.
These are all the pieces I chose…
And then the assembly…
The staff thought I needed a bit of intervention at this point 😅…
Eventually, it was time for me to stick on my pieces!
I’ll fast forward the process ok….
Tadah~ The only piece in this world. 🙂 It rotates to the tune of Canon in D. Everyone in the fam is represented on here. Pull up rings for the human M, poodle figurine for the canine M, and then unicorn and dog walking woman for me. I get more representation since I made it of course.
I had a good time! Expensive but money well spent. Back to letting photos do the talking…
I can’t sing the praises of this place enough. I spent about 2 hrs here but I would have taken more time if it weren’t this crowded. Ended with an iced latte from 小日子.
It was the best iced latte ever! Only NTD$85 and it was very kindly paid for by the Taiwan tourism board. 😅
