Day 1 Final – Contingencies

The next item on my itinerary was Zhongshan Linear Park. It was about 5.45pm by now and temperatures had cooled considerably. So I thought I’ll walk there. It was about 30 mins away. I was left with 20% batt on my iPhone, so I used my Galaxy Flip to map the route there. My Flip still had 90% juice.

But 1/3 into the journey, my Flip’s main screen suddenly blanked out. The front screen was still working though so I was pretty sure the phone wasn’t dead. But no matter what I did the screen will not come back on and my iPhone now says it is 17% alive.

I had idiotically left my portable charger back in the hotel.

There was no choice then. With the remaining very transient power that my iPhone had, I got an Uber to take me back to the hotel to charge my phone. It was about 6.15pm when I got back.

I haven’t eaten since the fried carrot cake onboard which was 8hrs ago. So I decided to abort the Zhongshan Linear Park plan for now and feed myself first. There was a Family Mart across the street from my hotel so I went there to pick up some food.

This mala luroufan was really quite tasty actually. I couldn’t even tell it was combini food at all.

And this tasted exactly like the McDonald’s cheeseburger with rice and omelette instead of bun, which made it better in my opinion.

This strawberry milk tea tasted more like strawberry milk than milk tea. I know it does say 60% milk but it really tasted more like 99.6% instead.

Didn’t get to try 铁蛋 or 豆干 yet.

I ran a bath after dinner to use a Lush bath bomb! 🙂 Water pressure was high and the tub filled up fast and hot. Was pleased!

Today I will rest up early to make up for last night. Will be off to Taichung for the next few days!

Oh, and my Flip’s screen is okay again. I never knew exactly what happened to it. Oh well…
