I reached the upmarket mall with a stylish vibe. I could see why though. There was Lululemon here, Lojel, Le Labo, Aesop, MLB\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n And even Mao & Kou. \ud83e\udd23<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am now seriously in search of a new pair of shoes. I had been walking very very slowly because my feet hurt so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I spotted a nice pair of sliders in MLB but they were 100 bucks. I pass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Because no trip to Taiwan can be complete without a trip to \u8bda\u54c1\u4e66\u5e97.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even though I don\u2019t know why I insisted on coming since I\u2019d never ever bought anything here. I think it just invigorates me. Like when I put my Switch back onto the console to charge, the bookshop is my console. <\/p>\n\n\n\n These days there are a lot of books with this self-love theme going on. It is obviously a very good notion to promote especially for people who give too much of themselves and burn out. But at the same time I\u2019m beginning to wonder where do we draw the line between self-love and self-centeredness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Like the title of the book above, is it really propagating self-love or self-centeredness? Because I\u2019d been observing a lot of the latter lately, especially in younger people. I\u2019m all about self-love and I\u2019d been loving myself for a very long time. But I think self-love is about making sure you\u2019re not pouring from an empty cup, it\u2019s about spending time with yourself to organize your own thoughts, it\u2019s about knowing what you stand for and not allowing negativity from irrelevant people to waver that stand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Self-love is not about putting my own needs before everyone else all the time. It\u2019s not about failing to be considerate to others as long as it serves my purpose. It\u2019s not about ignoring everyone else\u2019s opinion as long as I\u2019m not liking what I hear. That\u2019s merely selfish people trying to justify their bad behavior by proclaiming self-love. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Cannot bring back\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n (Because I refuse to hand carry.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also cannot bring back\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n (Ditto above.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2.36pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n I left Park Lane for Sogo. Maybe I\u2019ll get lucky and find shoes there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lo and behold! What do I see?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am saved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I was at a point where I didn\u2019t even care about the design anymore. I went for the most comfortable pair of sliders\/sandals I could find. And I just happened to like the design of the most comfortable pair too. The sales staff said it is now very trendy to wear fancy socks with my sliders. I don\u2019t know about that. Wearing socks with sandals is one thing, but socks with sliders\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n The price of my new shoes was exactly the same as the bag that I\u2019d forgone. Now I was even more certain I made the correct decision. Shoes were a matter of life and death. Bag wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3.05pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n I reached! It\u2019s no longer miserable to walk! <\/p>\n\n\n\n So glorious these golden doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These malls are amazing. They employ so many staff yet there\u2019re hardly any shoppers. I don\u2019t know how they survive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I see something I recognize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n By this time I was actually hungry. But the crepe cake was lame. It was just about edible without invoking any joy in the palate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I walked around some and then went to the basement to find food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Similar pricing to Singapore though, <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sogo was just about 10mins walk away from the hotel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 4.36pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n Left Sogo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4.47pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reached Carlton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5.29pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n On Uber towards Fengjia Night Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Passed a pet megastore along the way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5.51pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reached Fengjia Night Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m on a mission to find \u5927\u80a0\u5305\u5c0f\u80a0 today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u80a0\u80a0 secured!<\/p>\n\n\n\n And then I also bought this just because. I didn\u2019t want to go all the way there just to get one item. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 6.45pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m already on my way back to the hotel. No more night markets for me tomorrow. It\u2019s just not my kinda scene. Waste of my peak hour Uber fares. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Not sure if my memory failed me but did Fengjia become smaller? I thought it was supposed to be the biggest night market in Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eevee and I greeted each other while I was going across the road. I waved, he waved. Recently I\u2019d been waving at a lot of mascots because I really feel sorry for them for working in the heat. People are so happy to see them but they\u2019re probably crying inside. Hopefully a smile and a wave will make them feel better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 7.21pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tonight\u2019s dinner. Bento box from Sogo, \u80a0\u80a0 and grilled squid! <\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m done with Taichung now. I think tomorrow I will head to the HSR station earlier to see if I can get an earlier train back to Taipei. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Honestly, I can\u2019t wait to check out. The wifi connection here is spotty and the water pressure in the shower is so weak. The water temperature also can\u2019t seem to regulate itself. It\u2019s either too hot or too cold. And I just spotted ants on the table! Whoa that takes the cake seriously. It wasn\u2019t just a scout, it was a bunch of them!
