Day 3 – Continue Hunt for Artsy Stuffs

11.12am

I began my walk from the art museum towards Taichung City Dadun Cultural Centre. It was only about 5mins away.

The walk would have been extremely pleasant if it weren’t for the hot weather. But I’ll take it over rain while I’m on vacation any day!

11.18pm

And I’m here!

I was a bit confused because it looked like a government office inside.

And it probably really was a government office, though I did find some exhibition rooms on the left side of the building. Just like the museum, admission here was also free!

My initial reaction was – Ah, these must be the grade B works that didn’t make the cut to the museum.

But I immediately felt bad for thinking this way because I probably won’t be thinking less of them if they had been as well exhibited as those in the museum, with the right kind of lighting and professional treatment.

There were earthware on exhibit too.

This reminded me of Okinawa blue but lesser.

And the one at the bottom looked just like the bruise I got from the meridian bojin massage. 🙄

So nice that in all these exhibitions, there weren’t many people at all. It made the experience a much better one. Unlike the Van Gogh exhibition in Singapore, pay so much but so damn many people. And I could be there reading from the wall and some entitled person can come and slot herself right in front of me. Or I could be taking a picture and some idiot will walk right across. Don’t even get me started on those who allow their kids to run around the gallery making noises. Just go Kidzania man.

Actually this place not so bad leh. Just that it’s not my kinda art.

This reminds me of Boat Quay!

This is something I will bring home.

This reminds me of M (human) when he simulates bowling and golf movements!

11.40pm

Left to head for the next destination. I was super thirsty and my feet were beginning to hurt again, in spite of the socks. Pretty sure I’ve got blisters in a couple of my toes. I’m beginning to seriously doubt that I can continue wearing these shoes for 2 more days. I have so much walking to do!

Saw this guy on my walk! People are always asking for my permission to take photographs of M (canine). Today I ask someone else for permission to take a photo of his dog too!

So envious of dogs in Taiwan. They’re allowed almost everywhere, even on the HSR!

11.49am

I reached Shenji New Village.

While it was a nice place, it was unfortunately a tiny space, unlike Huashan 1914 Creative Park. And more than half of them were food related too. I was told that in the afternoon though, there will be vendors setting up stalls to sell their crafts stuffs so it might be better to come after lunch.

Time for the photos.

And then I went into this shop for a bit and bought some stuffs. There was this bag that I was also interested in getting but the display piece was the last piece and I didn’t want it because there were some light scratches on the metal work.

After leaving the shop, I went to find a place to get a drink. I ended up here.

And refreshed myself!

Lemon tart was good, coffee was hopeless.

And then suddenly, I saw the sales staff from the previous shop walk past the window in front of me, do a doubletake as she saw me, and come into the cafe. She said that the postman just came after I’d left and the bag I’d wanted was restocked. And she came out to see if I still happened to be around. I could go back after I’m done with my coffee, she said.

I toyed with the idea for a bit, and eventually I decided not to go back for the bag, even though it was so timely it seemed like I was meant to get it.

1.05pm

Left the cafe and started my walk to this place called Caowu Square. I just added this to my itinerary on a whim because I didn’t expect to clear my itinerary so fast!

I had thought that I would spend a lot more time on each location.

There were a lot of these parks in Taichung that I’d been walking through.

1.21pm

Reached Caowu Square.

This shop sells lotsa tiger merch. I think the tiger’s name is Alexander. I think his slogan is “我不是胖虎” because that keeps getting repeated in the merch. So upsetting. 胖虎又怎么了?

This very nice looking place is unfortunately also very hopeless. Apart from the tiger, there was like a place selling camping stuff and another selling shoes and that was it. The rest were food places.

Oh, and I think there was a place that sells plants.

Alas, was done with Caowu Square in 10mins. This wasn’t really what the blog I read had portrayed but I forgot to check the currentness of the article. I think a lot of places are no longer what they used to be.
